You are exposed!!

People who participate in Social Media wether its Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or whatever  many times fail to understand how much exposed they are both as a person and as professionals. I see the vast majority of my Facebook friends post thoughts, actions, videos and status of the most ridiculous things one can imagine. Pictures on the time they go to bed to show their new pajamas(?) or their last weekends hangover, and they post such things every single  day!

On the other hand many of these people have a LinkedIn account where they try to show how professional they are and post relevant articles about their work and may even participate in relevant groups and discussions.
So why would anyone who should care about their image and future success in life share such irrelevant or even stupid things in social media? The answer is probably simple enough. Because they fail to realize that social media is not a toy for kids but an amazing tool of today to boost your self in the business market and help you achieve your goals (provided you have some).
When you apply for a job your future employer will have a look at you Facebook account for sure. What they will see is up to you. So if you don't get the job because you don't take care of your image inside or outside social media there is only one person to blame and that's you and only you!
Please notice, i am not saying you shouldn't have fun with social media or express yourself as a person BUT there is a huge impact to you as a person and as a professional of the content you post on how others perceive you.
My advice is this: use social media to show the Best of who you are as a personality, professional,family person etc and have fun along the way, and keep some private things of your life just private.
