Getting fans on a Facebook Page
Getting
fans on a Facebook page can be difficult for many people or new businesses, especially
if you are not well established in your area of expertise. If you are opening a
new business and want to get clients or if you just want to promote your
personal brand Facebook is the place to be. Most probably your clients are
already there.
So what do
you do? You have signed on Facebook, you know how to handle your personal
account but you find it difficult to increase your page’s likes. Most probably
you have invited all your friends but only a small portion has liked your page.
Don’t worry
there are a lot of ways to increase your likes. Just remember my “Golden Rule”:
It’s not the quantity it’s the quality! I have found it more beneficial to have
a targeted audience with high interaction and engagement status than having big
numbers with low interaction and engagement status.
Now that
you have become aware of this “Golden Rule” I hope you feel a bit less stressed
about your numbers. So now the question is: “How do I increase my page’s likes
while maintaining a targeted audience?”.
There are
various ways to explore and hit your target but it takes time and consistency.
You can’t do all at once.
First you
have to set a nice looking page, a page that will be exciting to those you
invite to like later on. Everything in the page has to be in alignment with
what you offer otherwise you give the wrong impressions.
Second thing you can do when inviting your friends to like is to use a different tactic than the usual. Instead of using the standard “invite friends” option on a page, try sending a private message to each of your friends explaining what the page is all about and why you think they might find it interesting and beneficial to like. This method can have significant increase in your likes since often people do not like a page they are invited to, because they do not understand what it is.
Third thing
you can do is to use a few of your very good friends or family members to help
you out. Make those people administrators and ask them to invite their own
friends. This way you multiply the number of people who like your page very
quickly. Needless to say that you still get “quality” since the people who will
like are going to be the ones who are interested.
A fourth way is to advertise the existence of your page on Facebook. Notice I said advertise your existence not have a competition to gain likes! Competitions to attract likes will just bring you a lot of people who are not interested in your brand but the prize you offer. This happens especially when the prize is not related to your product or service. Recently we did a campaign on Facebook for a client. We used our logo and a post per week to appear on our targeted audience, with a budget of 400 euros for a whole month. The result was a 442% increase in likes, which kept on increasing after the campaign was finished. Furthermore the likes on all posts, shares and comments went crazy!
Finally the fifth and probably the most important thing to do: provide Value! Posts that provide value to your audience is what will keep them coming for more. Just to make clear what Value is you need to ask yourself this: Will my posts help my audience profit more, learn more, produce more, and improve their lives in any way? If the answer in any of these is yes then you have Value!
All the
above steps take time and consistency as mentioned before. Do not be in a hurry
to make all at once. Success does not come overnight. Observe experiment and
learn. Then apply. These are just few but important things you can do in the
process of growing your Facebook page.
