Social Media and Hacked Celebrity pics-Basic steps to keep you safe

Social Media and Hacked Celebrity pics

It has been the issue on all Social Media the past weeks that many celebrities have been the victims of hackers. The hackers have managed to gain access to private photos and videos stored in i-cloud accounts. Some of the "victims" include Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst and many more.

Just a few days ago reports say that thousands of photos have been stolen through a third party Snapchat app. It is estimated that almost 100,00 pics have been acquired by hackers.

This is quite an issue as users of various Social Media apps or other tools need to be very careful of what they share and on the other hand developers of these tools and apps need to protect their users.

To be honest no provider can ever guarantee absolute protection so it all comes down to what we, as users, chose to do with our data.

Some basic steps would be:

1) Do not store what you consider private-sensitive content on platforms or apps other than your own PC or an external hard drive.
2) Understand that not all apps are have the same level of security. Usually newly developed apps and tools do not have the ability to provide a high level of security.
3) Some Social Media platforms like Facebook use your data from time to time to conduct heir own experiments.
4) Make sure that if you do share sensitive content you do not store it on a device or app. Rather delete it immediately after.
