LinkedIn Basics-7 must do steps
It’s a common phenomenon for many people to ignore the basics of a
good LinkedIn profile or what to do once they have a profile. I am often asked
for advice from friends and colleagues so here are a few tips of what
to do once you create a LinkedIn account:
1) Complete your profile 100%. There is no excuse to leave
something behind. (Even if you did not have a past job just insert a summer job
you did before graduating)
2) Insert a photo. People have to see who you are when they search
for you or when you request to connect. Just make sure you insert a nice
professional picture of you.
3) When you ask someone unknown to connect send a message ahead or
ask for an introduction. If the other person accepts your invitation send a
thank you message and something of value for the other person to read, just to
verify that you are a valuable connection!
4) Join groups and conversations. Find people in your field of
expertise and share information or exchange ideas to make yourself known in
your community.
5) Endorse your connections skills and expertise and they will do
the same. Its not enough to say you have skills in a field. Other
people verifying your expertise gives you credibility.
6) Share information via LinkedIn with your connections through original
articles and be known as an expert in your field.
7) Give recommendations to people you have worked with and
value a lot. People will return the favor and give a recommendation to you.
There is no better proof to others of how good you are at what you do!
